Veteran Artists Gary Emrick presents his large colorful collection of Native American portraits . Gary is a Navy Veteran -- 1978-1982, 1985-1987

"I began painting at age 5 and painted through my teen years. I was offered a scholarship for art
my senior year but decided to join the Navy.

I painted a little while in the Navy. After serving 4 years in the Navy I went to California to
airbrush surfboards. In 1985 I went back in the Navy.

I ended up getting an honorable discharge under medical. I studied art at Mesa College with a
4.0 GPA. I then studied with internationally known artist Mark Rohrig where I learned the
purple wash technique. I have been painting almost every day since."
